Jordan had a hernia repair surgery this Thursday and I was talking to the other kids about what would happen.  I told them that they gave Jordan some medicine to make him go to sleep and he would not feel anything.  They were OK with that and then McKay asked me "mom, will Jordan be up by Friday?"  I assured him that he would.  And by the way, Jordan recovered amazingly.  He was bored on the couch 2 hours after we got home from the hospital.  If I was not worried about other kids bumping into him at school, I would have sent him back the next day.  Kids really do bounce back quick.
While the boys are playing the wii, I hear Jordan tell McKay to "run for your life"  Must be a scary game!!

Fall Football

Both the boys wanted to play football this fall.  They had fun, well I forced them to have fun.  Jordan loved it after the first practice.  He said on the way home that this was the best day ever... then he had his first game.  He was freaked out.  I think that he was a little shocked the he got knocked around a little bit.  But he finished the season and did great. McKay on the other hand did not like football to start with.  He did not like getting knocked down or knocking other people down.  But as the season went on, he became a powerhouse player.  He really got in there and pushed those other kids around.  Funny how the roles changed.  We did not get pictures because the cost a fortune... So I  took some outside in the year before we had to turn in their pads.  Here is what I got.

I think that we are offically Buckeye fans... After BYU of course....

I LOVE this picture.  I am going to enlarge it and put in on the boys wall.

Halloween

Halloween at our house was a lot of fun this year.  We got to have Grandma and Grandpa Karpowitz come for a visit.  Jordan was a pirate.  I LOVED his costume, especially the hat.  He did not like the black on his face.  He wanted to be a "clean" pirate.

Hailee was a butterfly.  She was SOOOO cute.  I just love this girl.  She had to have some makeup on because she saw me doing everyone else's makeup.  She is such a girly, girl....

Mackenzie went as Dorothy.  She LOVED her dress and I loved that she hair was long enought to put into pig tails.  She really looked so cute!

McKay went as Darth Vader.  I had planned to not get any new costumes for the boys because I had some that they could use.  I usually buy some right after Halloween for cheap.  But he REALLY wanted to be Darth Vader.  So while he was a school, I went to the store and surprised him with his costume.  He was so excited and told me that "I was the best mom in the whole galaxy".  I must be... he said it...

Grandm and Grandpa with the kids at the downtown trick-or-treating.  The kids loved that grandma and grandpa got to get in on all the festivities...

I did not get a picture of Laci.  I am planning on dressing her up and taking some fake ones since I did not get any on the actual holiday.

Baby times

This is a picture of my littlest girl.  She is getting so big.  Today she rolled all over the living room floor. She is almost 14 lbs and reminds me of a little turkey.  She is so much fun to hold and kiss.  She just melts right into you.  I love her so much.  Her sweet little spirit has made our family complete.

Kids say it best

Some funny things that the kids have said lately...

I was in my room feeding the baby when McKay came in with a bloody nose.  I told him to go in the bathroom and I would be right there.  I guess that I was taking a little too long because I heard McKay yell from the bathroom "hurry up mom.  I'm wasting my blood".

Jordan and McKay are playing football right now.  They were very excited when we signed up, but after their first game, they were a little afraid of being tackled.  We talked about how sometimes we try new things that we don't really like, but we finish them and then they we don't have to do it again.  That we don't quit.  We give it our all until it is done.  Later that night when we were at home, Jordan asked me "mom,  why won't you let me be a quitter?"  Sorry Jordan!

Hailee, the baby that would NEVER take a binki, has decided since Laci has been born that she really needs one.  When we pull the binki out of her mouth, she says in her cute little voice "hey".  I love it.  We do it just for fun!

I know there are funny things that Makenzie has said, but I can't remember then right now.  It is too late.
I will have to write them later.

Laci's Blessing Day

We were excited to be going to Texas for Andrew and Meredith's reception for many reasons.  One was that we would be with my family to bless Laci.  This was very special to have my brothers be able to stand in the circle with Mike.  It was a great day and Mike gave her a great blessing.  I am so grateful for the priesthood in my home and the example that Mike is setting for our boys.   Here are a few pictures of that day.  We did not get a good one of Laci in her dress.  I guess that I will have to dress her back up again and take some.

BYU vs OU Game

We had such a great time at the game.  The Stadium is unbelievable!  We had some OU fans with us!  Notice the crying!!!!

As you can see, the thing that we like the most about Texas (except of course Nana and Grandpa) is swimming.

Each Life that Touches Ours For Good

Today at church we sang a song that made me think a lot about my grandmother that passed away a year ago. The song says these words.

Each life that touches ours for good reflects thine own great mercy Lord; thou sendest blessings from above. Thru words and deeds of those who love.

For worthy friends whose lives proclaim Devotion to the Saviors name, Who bless our days with peace and love, We praise thy goodness Lord above.

When we were singing this song it made me think a lot about her because she really was one of my best friends. She was a woman of true love for everyone that she met. She touched my life for good many times. She was also devoted to the Savior. People could truly feel His love through her. I am so grateful for my loving grandmother. I miss her and think about her all the time.

Busy August

A lot has happened since my last post. After Laci was born, I had a couple weeks to recover and then get to Utah for my brother's wedding. I was so glad that I could be there. It was so much fun to see all my family and watch my baby brother get married and be so happy! Our tradition is to go out together as siblings without our spouse before someone gets married. We really this. We laugh and talk about things when we were growing up things we have learned since we have gotten older. We got a little load a few times, but I don't think we noticed too much.

While we were waiting for Andrew and Meredith to come out of the temple, I caught Mackenzie peeking through the windows. I thought it was so cute I snapped a picture. I hope that Mackenzie always keeps her eyes on the temple.

The happy couple emerges!

I LOVE this picture!

Mackenzie and I outside.

During the wedding, Mackenzie tried on EVEYONE'S shoes. She would introduce herself then ask to try on your shoes. It was so funny. I got this picture of her little tiny feet in these high heals. I foresee a shoe fetish for her!

Announcing...

Well, this weekend was a busy one for our family. It started out by Mike getting back into town on Friday night around 1am. We were glad that he was home. We spent Saturday getting lots done (and a little bit of play in there too). We were going, going all day long. For dinner we decided to go out for Mike's birthday (it was on Monday). So we found a place here close to home because it was getting late. About 1/2 way through dinner I started to feels some contractions. After a few of them, I told Mike that I was starting to feel something. As we ate, they got stronger and stronger. They were coming ever 4 minutes. So we loaded up the kids and headed home. At this point they were hurting enough that I could not talk when I was having one. I was trying not to scare the kids so I was talking to them a little about what was going on when I was not having one. During our drive home, Jordan looked at Mackenzie and said, "this is what you are going to have to do one day" Mike and I thought it was so funny.
So we came home and decided to time them and see if they got any harder. They did, so we called our friend and she came over. It was about 9:30 at this time. I had been having contractions since 7:00. We got to the hospital and they hooked me all up and things were going OK. After about 3 hours things really slowed down. I was still having strong contractions, but not near as close. I was getting really discouraged. Since it was the middle of the night, the Dr was not going to come in until I was getting ready to deliver or it was morning time. So I labored all night long and went from a 4 to a 6. The Dr came in around 6:30 for a ER call and came to see me. He broke my water and then things started to happen. I got my epidural around 7:45 and then she was born at 9:24. Her deliver was very quick and because of that she was bruised all over her face. But she was healthy and strong and weighted in at 7lbs 15oz. and was 19 3/4 in long. We named her Laci Kaye Karpowitz. She is the biggest baby that I have had. She is so cute and we are all in love with her. I am so thankful that she came a little early and we can start the adjustment process.

Here is a picture of me before we left for the hospital.
