Early Morning Wake-up Call

So last Thursday, I was sound asleep in bed at 5:45 in the morning. Mike was out of town again. Suddenly, the phone rings. I wake up but really don't know what is going on. So not remembering that I had a phone right there by my bed, I take off down the stairs to get the phone. I was running so fast the I actually fell down the last 2 steps and got this big rug burn on my knee. So I get to the phone and the lady on the end says to me, "Hello, this is the Marysville Police Dept. We are looking for a Malinda Karpwoitz." I heard what she was asking, but still not really registering. Then she said, " We have had some break-in's in the neighborhood during the night and your neightbor called because he actually saw someone in your vehicle. She said that there was an officer knocking on my door and he had wanted me to check my car and make sure that everything was OK. So I got off the phone and went out to the car. It was locked. So I went back, got the keys and opened the car. There was nothing wrong inside. Nothing was missing, and we had a portable DVD player in there. So I came back in and called the police back. They said they just wanted to make sure that everything was OK. I was awake by now and a little jumpy. So what they think happened was someone was TRYING to get into my car and when they pulled the handle, the dome light inside came on. Then when he saw that it was locked, he left. It scared me just a little. I thought here I am. Alone in my house with my three kids and someone was trying to break into my car. I was very grateful that everything was fine and that my family had been protected. Needless to say, I was very happy when Mike came home and he is here to stay for a while.
