Long week

I know that lots of parts of the country are getting a lot of bad weather right, but we seem to be getting a lot of it.  We got snow starting last Sunday.  They delayed school for the kids on that Monday.  Then Tuesday and Wed. they canceled school.  They did go Thursday with a 2 hour delay.  They had a scheduled 4 day weekend already.  So no school on Friday or Monday.  Then today they had no school because of the snow.  We are already on a 2 hour delay for Wed with a high chance of a cancelation.  I love my kids SOO much and love to spend time with them.  But come on.  We have done lots of fun things since they have been out for snow, but we all need to be back in our routine.  Plus the weather is so bad, that I can't really take the kids out to do anything.  I really don't want to cart 5 kids out in snow like this.  So today, I did what most good mothers would not have done.  I told the kids they could play the wii, watch movies and play computer games all they wanted, as long as at 3:30, the turned everything off so that we could clean the house before dad came home from work....  They agreed to this and spent the whole day playing.  I spend most of the day upstairs in my bed with the two little girls.  I tell you, this was the most relaxing snow day that I have ever had.  They kids did really good.  The house was not that messy when the time came to clean it.  They worked and helped and everything was semi clean when Mike came home.  We don't get to play the wii too much or have free movie time all we want.  But some days, you just have to do it.  Thanks to a really good friend that helped me to see that this was OK to do for a day.  So I think that we survived another snow day.  I will look forward to spending more days at home with my kids when I have a little more time to plan what we will do...

All the snow sounds awful! It's no fun to be off a routine, but it sounds like you made the most of it. I think you are an AWESOME mom for taking a day off like that and letting the kids be free to do what they wanted. Good for you!!
